Welcome to

Oyate Studio!

Oyate Studio is a culturally rich and innovative art studio and company based on the Cheyenne River Reservation, home to the Thitunwan (People of the Plains) of the Oceti Sakowin.  We believe that art offers a powerful and layered metaphor for the human condition, reflecting Lakota lifeways, and interconnectedness.  Our mission is to provide a platform of resources and support to empower creative talent within the community.  We specialize in the creation of artisanal products, we provide a fully resourced co-workspace to teach and learn new art forms with aspiring Native artisans.  Our co-workspace allows established Native artisans to utilize our tools and creative energy to further develop their own art. At OYATE Studio, we are dedicated to empowering and supporting creativity within our community to ensure that art not only resonates with profound meaning, but also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of the Cheyenne River Reservation.
