Artisan: Amanda Washburn
Born on the Cheyenne River Reservation, Amanda’s artistry is grounded in family heritage and intergenerational knowledge. Amanda is a maker of 28 years. She first learned patchwork and hand quilting from her grandmother and later learned star quilt making from her mother, who at the time balanced a full-time job all the while crafting quilts at home and simultaneously creating jobs in the Cherry Creek community through the art. Quilting remains a family tradition, inclusive of her father and three sisters who all sew.
